What They've Said About Brodrick Bunkley

Find out all about Brodrick Bunkley from what others are saying about him. The Eagles first round pick comes highly recommended from several sources.

Bunkley was a physical specimen way back in high school at Tampa Chamberlain. His career as a Seminoles started out as a bang but slowed in his junior season due to a high ankle sprain. He almost cost himself millions of dollars by letting his academics slip late in his college career.

A lapse in the classroom over the summer forced the all-America candidate into a harried game of academic catch-up in order to become eligible in time for FSU's season opener against Miami.

"He was faced with a near impossibility," FSU defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews said. "It didn't look good for him. Or us."

Fast-rising lineman who is near top ten status despite some knee injury history. Explosive, nasty, and quick, Bunkley can play either DT or DE depending on the scheme. Can be developed further by improving his moves and hands.

Florida State Career:
Starting all games at defensive tackle, Bunkley finally was able deliver on his promise. Finished the season with 25 tackles for a loss (school record, second nationally) and nine sacks (career high, team leader). Led the nation in TFL by an interior lineman. Also had two fumble recoveries. Named to several first-team All-America squads.

Bunkley's expected breakout year as a junior was derailed due to injuries, but he still started seven games at defensive tackle. His disappointing season yielded three tackles for a loss and one sack.

As a sophomore, Bunkley played in all 13 games and started two at nose guard (Virginia and Wake Forrest) for an injured Jeff Womble. He ranked third among defensive lineman with 38 tackles (19 solo, 19 assisted). He also added a career high eight tackles for a loss, five quarterback hurries, two pass break-ups, one and a half sacks, and a fumble recovery.
